What is the counseling program all about?
As a counselor my role is to help students in the following ways:
Guidance Curriculum: The guidance curriculum consists of structured developmental lessons designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills appropriate to their developmental level.
Individual Student Planning: It is my role to assist students in their personal goals and develop future plans.
Responsive Services: This consists of activities meeting individual students' needs, usually triggered by life events or situations and condition in the lives of the student. These needs may require counseling, consultation with other colleagues, referrals, peer mediation or other information.
Systems Support: The counseling program is designed as a system support for teachers, staff, administration and parents/guardians. The counseling program works alongside staff and parents to ensure student success together.
As a counselor my role is to also help foster student success in the three areas of personal/social development, academic performance and career awareness/exploration.
I will address these areas in the following ways:
· Meet individually with students
·Teach classsroom guidance lessons
·Collaborate with teachers and other staff members concerning students and their needs
·Consult with parents and provide education and information regarding their children
·Knowledge to community resources available to families
