Meet individually with students
· During the school year almost every student needs some individual attention for a variety of reasons including death in the family, changes in the home, conflicts with friends, difficulty with school work, self-esteem issues, anxiety, poor behavior choices etc. If I am seeing a student individually, I will work closely with the parent and teacher to monitor progress. If the situation persists or requires long-term intervention, I will work with you to come up with a plan of action.
Conduct small groups
· Teachers or parents can refer a child for group counseling when students are exhibiting difficulty in a particular area. Topics may include: Dealing with anger, self-esteem, stress management, friendship/social skills and divorce. Groups will be created upon the needs of the students.
The goals of small groups and individual meetings:
· To help children cope with difficult life events at home such as divorce, moving, grief, separation, etc. or in school such as conflict resolution, friendship issues or academic success.
· To help children understand their potential!
· To give students a place to express their feelings both positive and negative
· To help students through their decision making
· Build self-esteem and confidence
· Help increase the skills necessary to become respectful and responsible members of the community.
· Help develop friendships and conflict resolution skills.
